Keri Facer

Keri is Professor of Education at the Education and Social Research Institute, MMU, where she specialises in digital cultures, social justice and radical educational change. Formerly Research Director at Futurelab, Keri led the Beyond Current Horizons Programme for the UK government looking at long term socio-technical change and its implications for education.

Keri’s new book ‘Learning Futures: Education, technology and social change’ was published in March 2011. She is now working to realise the wholesale rethinking of education envisaged in that book through a range of collaborations. These include collaborating with the Co-operative College to rethink the economic underpinnings of education; working with the BBC to visualise learning across the life-course; developing interdisciplinary partnerships with digital artists around personal data interfaces for children; and exploring, with PhD students and inspiring collaborators across the UK, the alternative education institutions that are beginning to flourish beyond the walls of our universities and schools, in our city streets and communities.

Her new book, Education, Democracy and Research with Michael Fielding, John Schostak and Ivor Goodson, will be published in 2012.
